In the annual battle for Division 1 supremacy you can expect two things;
1. The atmosphere will be great with solid individual bouts.
2. Timberlane will come out on top.
I would love to be able to say that I see a path for the Tide to stay competitive and have a chance to win the dual, but I just cant find one. I expect the wrestling to be good. I expect to see compelling individual bouts. What I don’t expect is a particularly close dual. Assuming all the key players are in the lineup for both teams I expect something in the neighborhood of a 51-18 final score. The Owls just have too much fire power in too many weights. Compounding the matter is Timberlane’s likely bonus points.
Now, this dual and the crazy atmosphere can produce some strange results so don’t be surprised if we see an upset along the way or some of the bouts end up tighter than I project on paper to bring the final score a little closer.
None of this should take away from the fact that these are the two power wrestling programs in the Granite State year after year. I think there is near unanimous sentiment that bringing back the importance of dual meets is critically important to our sports survival. There have been a number of great events this year already. This dual, on a Friday night, with a packed gym is a great way to cap the dual season.
